Background
General contextGreenBees will work in Peru in
partnership with Grupo Quilla, a Peruvian association, to develop a
training programme for teachers who work in remote rural areas.
A training programme like this is a strategy of
continuous professional improvement for teachers. It takes place on
a regular basis in the classrooms. Teachers get to discover and
learn new teaching techniques explained by specialized trainers.
This programme is very efficient, especially in case of teachers who
have not received full training prior to their first assignment. It
is recommended by Peruvian national authorities.
In 2009 this programme will take place in primary
schools. It involves approximately 120 teachers and 850 students in
3 regions: Pasco, Ancash and Junin.

Objectives of the project
The cooperation project is built around six
objectives.
1. Support of the training programme
The wish of our partner – Grupo Quilla – is to involve us in the 2009
training programme and have us concentrate on the development of
training sessions in two areas: “individual and social development” and
“science and environment”. Our workshops on cultural identity will
indeed fit very well the “individual and social development” aspect of
the programme. Our partner also thought that we might test and
successfully adapt several workshops developed in Europe on the subject
of ecology and education to environment.
2. Educational toolkits
Grupo Quilla has asked that we continue to adjust two educational tools
presented during our last mission in 2008. Those tools proved to come
very handy. The first is called Kamishibai and uses a small wooden made
theatre to display images. The second is called the “Little house of
tales”. We have agreed to equip all the schools and teachers taking part
in the programme. In addition, we are going to learn good Peruvian
schooling practices that we will present to French teachers when we are
back.

3. Educational workshops
The GreenBees team will develop the module “The ways to culture” at
the request of local authorities of the host region. This module is
about self confidence and preserving the environment and takes place
during sessions held in the classroom with the help of the teacher.
4. Intercultural exchanges
We are going to initiate exchanges between participating Peruvian
schools and some French schools on the basis of a cooperative news paper.
These exchanges will give us the opportunity to conduct a sociological
study on Andes population for the benefit of a French audience.
5. Support to a Community activity
In order to ease the integration of the GreenBees team in the local
community, we shall be involved in a community service initiative whose
objective is to help the poorest. For example, it might be the set up of
a community library.
6. Educational resource
As per the needs of our partner, educational authorities (UGEL, DRE),
municipalities or schools, we are going to attend meetings, training
programmes (as external participants), seminars about pedagogy.
Action plan
-
Phase 1: July - December 2009
Design and deployment of the programme
-
Phase 2: January 2010 - January 2011
Consolidation over one full year, check of autonomy of the national
and local teams
GreenBees will finance some educational
material and will send a team of 3 French volunteers, one of whom will
be a pedagogue, for a period of 19 month. This team will be completed by
a Peruvian facilitator and a trainee in social sciences.
Budget forecast
The estimated budget for this project
amounts to EUR 45,500.
The local municipalities will finance this
project up to 10%. We are currently completing the financing by
soliciting financial support from institutions, corporations and
individual donators.
